Inaugural of Online Application Portal

The online application portal for the admission to B.Edprogramme in Loyola College of Education, Chennai, was inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Francis. P Xavier, Rector, Loyola College Campus. The faculties and the students of LCE were present in the programme.


IQAC organized National Webinar “Benchmarks of Research”.

Resource Person: Mr. Kodandarama, the Librarian, PES College of Engineering, Mandya, Karnataka.
The webinar focused on the following areas, i) Performance indicators: h –index and impact factor. ii) Citation index: Google scholar, Scopus and Web of Science. iii) ORCID : Authors unique ID and iv) Plagiarism.
From all over India many faculty members and research scholars from various disciplines participated in the webinar. It was an edifying experience with good take away messages to become productive researchers and publish in quality journals.


Online Faculty Development Programme

Resource Person: Mr. Simon Peter Paul, National ICT Awardee.
Due to lockdown an Online Faculty Development Programme on E- Content preparation, Finding Copyright free images and Sounds” was conducted on 13.05.2020 through Zoom Meet by Loyola College of Education in collaboration with Universal Teachers Academy. Mr. Simon Peter Paul spoke about various resources where copyright images and how sounds can be retrieved.


God Experience for Second Year Non-Christian Students.

A one day ‘God Experience’ for the Non-Christian students was conducted in the Arrupe Auditorium, LCE by Rev.Fr.Sagayaraj, Dean, ArulKadal.
Father emphasized on the importance of humanity over religion in context to the situations happening around the world. The session was concluded at 3.30 pm with vote of thanks.


Retreat for Second Year Christian Students

The retreat for Christian took place at “Christ the King Church” in Loyola College Campus. The retreat was carried on under the spiritual guidance of Rev.Fr.LeoAnand SJ, Campus Minister, Dyana Ashram. The main theme for the retreat revolved around the idea of “Moving closer to God”. The retreat was concluded by adoration along with the Holy mass.


Competitions – Face Painting & Meganthi

The Women cell of Loyola College of Education conducted Face Painting &Meganthi competitions in view of Women’s Day Celebration.


Ash Wednesday Mass

LCE had the responsibility of planning and leading the Christian students for Ash Wednesday Mass. Ash Wednesday is the first day of the season of lent, a time devoted to fasting, reconciliation and prayer. During the mass students & staff received the ashes, made from the blessed palms used in the Palm Sunday celebration of the previous year. The mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr.Antony Robinson, SJ, Director, Loyola Students Support Services. It was a prayerful start to the Lenten season.


Special Talk on Memory Technique

Resource Person: Mr. Godwin Jebakumar, Asst director, Velammal Knowledge Park Group of Schools.
Memorisation Techniques have a double effect on our brain. Firstly, you learn the information at hand, and secondly you become better at remembering overtime. Mr.Godwin gave few best tips and tricks to help boost our memory for both short and long term.


Placement Training

The first session was about “Interview Preparation Skills” by Dr.Bernard’DSamy, Co-ordinator, LISSTER, Associate Professor in Department of History and Former HOD of Department of History, Loyola College. The second session was about “Interview Presentation Skills” by Dr.T.Sekar, CEO, MD, SathakMat.Hr.Sec.School, Chennai. The Third session about “Interview Introduction Skills” by Br.Jacob, Vice-principal, Champion Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Trichy. The fourth session was about “Techniques for a demo class” by Mr. Praveen Sivakumar, Co-ordinator, SV School, Chennai. Three student teachers from three different departments participated in the MOCK interview conducted by the resource persons in a panel. The inputs given by the resource persons enabled the student-teachers to face the interview with confidence and proper preparation by updating their knowledge & skills.


Food Mela

The students of LCE participated in the food mela. Each department were allotted a specific date on which they were asked to bring food items from and sell it during the short break and lunch break. All the departments took part actively and enthusiastically in the food mela. Each department contributed the profit amount to the women cell for Women’s Day Celebration.


TNTEU Zonal level Sports Meet 2019-2020

At Zonal Level, Girls Individual Championship was won by P. Lakshmi, Loyola College of Education. Zonal Level Overall Championship for men was won by Loyola College of Education with 18 points. Zonal Level Overall Championship for women was won by Loyola College of Education with 41 points.


Visit to Innovative Schools for I years

Day 2: 1) Indian Public School, Perungudi.
2) Montfort Mat.Hr. Sec.School, Thomas Mount.
The students were divided into two groups. They visited and observed the innovative practices in the schools.
At Indian Public School they aim to give every child the very best start possible in their education through vibrant and active teaching. They enable the children to become active learners by offering challenging broad and balanced International Baccalaureate and Cambridge Curriculum Programs.
Montfort Mat.Hr.Sec.School provides co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in a well-structured environment, such as Yoga, Robotics, Astronomy, Club, Scouts and Guides, JRC, NCC, School Band, Table Tennis, Martial Arts, Rotract Club and Music classes, dance, Histrionics, Singing, Public Speaking are also given importance. Life skill training programmes, career counselling and guidance, Personality development and inter personal skill developments are part of the curriculum and expert in the field are invited periodically to address & guide the students. Montfort Mat.Hr.Sec.School supports Inclusive education and admits students who are autistic, mentally retarded, learning diabled, spastic, physically challenged, visually challenged, hearing impaired etc,.

Visit to Innovative Schools for I years

Day 1: 1) Little Flower Convent Higher Secondary School for the deaf & dumb
2) Little Flower Convent Hr. Sec. School for the Blind
The main aims of Little Flower Convent Higher Secondary School for the deaf & dumb are a) to provide full time education free of charge. b) to train teachers in the modern methods of educating the hearing-impaired children. c) to integrate capable hearing-impaired children into regular schools.
The students are taught by the aural-oral method supported by modern means of techniques namely Maternal Reflective Method (MRM). The students are assisted to acquire the skills like Auditory Training, Speech-reading, Speech through conversation, reading & creative writing besides the regular syllabus.
The main objective of Little Flower Convent Hr. Sec. School for the Visually Impaired is to provide an all round education to the visually challenged and make them self-independent and self-confident and thus to integrate themselves with the mainstream of the society. To achieve this, children from the age of four are trained in different skills namely, mobility, Braille reading & writing, communication skills, physical skills, home management skills, self-help skills & vocational skills.
Students of Loyola College of Education had a different learning experience to know how learning is imparted to the special children.


TNTEU District Level Sports Meet, Loyola College of Education (Host Institution) 2019-2020.

The inauguration of the sports meet started with March Past by students from various colleges. This was followed by hoisting of National flag by Rev.Dr.S.Sebastian SJ, Secretary, LCE and the University flag was hoisted by Dr.L.KulandaiTheresal, Principal, LCE. Rev.Dr.S.Sebastian, SJ, lit the Olympic torch which was then carried by the sports representatives of various colleges. S.Koperundevi (II yr), Sports secretary, LCE led the oath taking ceremony. Rev.Fr.S.Sebastian, SJ declared the sports meet open. Various track and field events for both boys (800 mts, 400 mts, 100 mts, shotput, long jump, high jump, javelin throw & 4x100mts relay) and girls (200 mts, 400 mts, 100 mts, shotput, long jump, javelin throw & 4x100mts relay) were conducted simultaneously. Eight officials were invited to officiate various events.
Valedictory function was presided by Rev.Dr.SamualJeyaseelan SJ, Vice-Principal, Director, Loyola Hostel, PULC, Sports& Games.
Dr. K.Devisri, Asst. Professor, TNTEU graced the valedictory function. Prize were distributed by the Chief Guest and Dr.K.Devisri. Girls Individual Championship was won by P. Lakshmi, Loyola College of Education. Overall Championship for men was won by Loyola College of Education with 24 points followed by IASE with 18 points. Overall Championship for women was won by Loyola College of Education with 51 points followed St.Christopher’s College of Education with 7 Points. The sports meet came to an end with vote of thanks. This was followed by National Anthem.


TNTEU District Level Cultural Meet, Loyola College of Education (Host Institution) 2019-2020.

Chief Guest: Rev.Dr. Maria Wenisch, SJ, Director, ICAM College of Engineering and Technology.
Loyola College of Education, Chennai hosted district level Inter-collegiate cultural competition on 10th February 2020. Inter-collegiate culturaland Sports Meet 2019-2020 was inaugurated by Rev.Dr Maria Wenisch, SJ. Gathering was welcomed by Dr.KulandaiTheresal, Principal, LCE, and addressed by Rev.Dr.S.Sebastian, Secretary, LCE and Dr.Devisri, Asst. Professor, TNTEU. The programme came to an end with vote of thanks. There were four events organised 1. Elocution in Tamil, 2.Essay writing in Tamil, 3.Vocal Performance 4.Instrumental performance. Students from 16 Colleges of Educations belonging to Chennai district participated. All the events were judged by the professionals in the respected area. Competitions provided a bigger platform for students to showcase, learn and exchange their cultural capabilities.

13th Annual Sports Meet

Chief Guest: Ms. PramilaRamachandran, Record Holder in Long Jump, World police Athletic Championship, Tamil Nadu Police.
The sports meet began with prayer song followed by TamilthaiVazhthu. Dr. L. KulandaiTheresal, Principal, LCE gave a short welcome note and introduced the chief guest Ms. PramilaRamachandran, International Athlete, Department of Police. The guest of honour was honouredwith a shawl and memento. This was followed by spectacular March Past performance by students of Green, Blue, Red and Yellow teams following the Loyola band. Chief Guest Ms. PramilaRamachandran then hoisted the Olympic flag, followed by hoisting of college flag by Rev. Dr. S. Sebastian, SJ, Secretary, LCE. Olympic torch was carried by LCE athletes A.RufusDayasagaran (I yr), B. Vishwakaran (I yr). A. Kalyanasundaranar (II yr), S. Kamali (I yr), AbishekVijin (II yr), M.Nirmala (I yr), M.S.Dayana Rose (I yr) and finally flame was lit by P.Lakshmi (II yr). Ms. S. Koperundevi, Sports Secretary led the oath taking ceremony.
Sports events such as 100 mts for girls, 100 mts for boys, fun games for boys and girls, 4x100 mts relay for girls & boys and finally lucky game for staff were conducted. Prizes were distributed by the chief guest, Secretary and Principal. Green house won the Overall Championship trophy for Athletics, Blue & Red house won the Overall Championship trophy for games and Yellow house won the trophy for March Past. Individual Championship trophy for girls was shared by P.Lakshmi (II yr) & S. Kamali (I yr). Individual Championship trophy for boys was received by A. Rufus Dayasagaran (I yr). vote of thanks was proposed by Mr.J.Arul Martin, Physical Director. The Programme came to an end with National Anthem.


AIDS AWARENESS

Resource Person: Dr.AmarasenSelvam, MBBS., MD.
Dr.AmarasenSelvam, delivered a lecture among the students and made them aware on HIV/AIDS issues and also shared the concept of RRC, its objectives through PPT. After the talk on awareness, students took part in an interaction and cleared their misconceptions. The queries were answered by speaker.


Sapling Plantation

As a part of Eco-club, Cycas and other flowering plants were planted in premises on 25th January 2020. The plants were planted by Rev.Dr.S.Sebastian, SJ, Secretary, LCE, Mr.S.RegisGnanaraj, Co-ordinator and members of the Eco-club.


Public Lecture – In view of Celebration of “ Gandhi – 150”

Resource Person: Mr. Raj Mohan Gandhi, Research Professor at the College of Education, University of Illinios, USA.
Talk on building a non-violent society today based on Gandhian Paradigms was given by Mr. Raj Mohan Gandhi. Teaching staff from all the units in Loyola Campus participated in the interaction session with the Chief Guest.

JAAI 9th National Alumni Congress

The 9th National Congress of the Federation of Jesuit Alumnilae Associations of India was held from17th Jan 2020 to 19th Jan 2020 at St. Josephs’ College, Trichy. The congress had representatives from Jesuit Institutions all over India numbering upto 750. Loyola College of Education, Chennai was represented by Rev.Dr.S.Sebastian, SJ, Secretary and Alumni Director of Loyola College of Education and 6 alumni. The congress was on the theme of networking for a Harmonious world and had several business sessions on the development of the alumni and how the alumni can contribute positively to the society and what are the works that can be done for the welfare of the society. The congress also elected the office bearers for the next 3 years and invited the attendees for the next congress that is to be held in Patna and for the International Jesuit Alumni Congress to be held in Barcelona, Spain.


Pongal Celebration

Chief Guest: Dr.K.V.KamalaMurugan, Professor, Queen Marys’ College.
The program began with prayer song followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu. This followed by lighting of the lamp. Chief guest gave a hearty speech on the significance of the festival. Cultural event started with speech on ‘Bogi’ followed by girls’ folk dance, speech on ‘pongal’, ‘Maatupongal’, ‘Kaanumpongal’, Group dance and finally dance by boys. The programme came to an end with vote of thanks.


Inter-collegiate Competition, LCEFEST’ 2020 Inaugural Function.

Eleven B.Ed colleges from Chennai district participated for the inter-collegiate. Dr.KulandaiTheresal, Principal, LCE welcomed the gathering. Rev.Fr. Francis P. Xavier, Rector, Loyola College Campus was the Chief Guest. Chief Guest of the event addressed the participants and wished the organizers a grand success. Rev.Dr.Susai Sebastian, Secretary, LCE was also present in the event and wished all the participants for the best performance. LCEFEST’ 2020 provided a bigger platform for students to showcase, learn and exchange their cultural capabilities. All the events were judged by the professionals in the respective area.


Valedictory of Fiesta ‘19-‘20

Chief Guest:Dr. Joseph Catherine, Principal, Stella Matutina College of Education.
The valedictory function was held on 7th January 2020 at Arruppe Auditorium, LCE. Dr. Joseph Catherine was the chief guest of the function. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the cultural competitions. Cultural events like group dance, solo singing and poetry recitation were performed by the winners of the respective events. The function came to a close with vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.


Prayermeeting for Non-Christian Staff & Students

Rev. Dr.Susai Sebastian, S.J. Secretary, LCE stated many social issues and played videos on people’s sufferings due to different reasons. He insisted that each one of us is blessed with gifts of life and should be content with what we have.


Holy Mass for Catholic & Christian Staff & Students

Celebrant: Fr. Paul Dinakaran, Administrator, Society of Guanella, Poonamalle.
On 20th December, Mass in preparation of Christmas was celebrated in Christ The King Church. Fr. Paul Dinakaran in his sermon spoke on sharing good news with others as God shared with us His only begotten son to redeem us.


Christmas Celebration for Staff of all units of Loyola at Betram Hall

Chief Guest: Rev. Fr. Wilson
Christmas Celebration for Staff of all units was held in Loyola at Betram Hall on Thursday, 19th December 2019. The Chief Guest of the programme was Rev. Fr. Wilson.
Staff from the various units of Loyola College sang Christmas Carols with devotion and gusto. The significance of the festival was explained to the students through dance. The Chief Guest explained the spiritual meaning of Christmas to the gathering and pointed out the relevance of the teachings of Jesus Christ, in which Love, joy, forgiveness and peace are to be practiced for world peace and harmony. The concluding part of the programme was lively dance and surprising visit of Santa claus. It was followed by Christmas lunch.


Awareness on ‘Kavalan SOS’ app

An awareness session on ‘Kavalan SOS’ application was held at Bertram Hall for all the female students and lady staff of all units of Loyola. Chennai City Police Commissioner Dr.Viswanathan and other senior police officers advised students to make use of the application in times of distress, Commissioner said that the city police would immediately respond to such distress calls.

Inaugural programme started with prayer song followed by lighting of the lamp. In his address, Mr. P. SundaraPandia Raja, briefed about the importance to be competent and successful in every sphere of life, a student needs many traits but the most crucial of them is confidence. Confidence is truly to accept oneself, to take on challenges head-on, to outperform even under constant pressure and to face difficult situations and work continuously towards making oneself better”.
Inaugural function was concluded with vote of thanks.

II year B.Ed students had their internship from August 2019 to 30th November 2019. The Internship committee collected feedback from the students on the internship on the basis of five criteria.

v) Teaching & Learning experience


Interaction with Transgender

Resource Person: Mrs. Sarah & Mr. Christy.
The movie ‘APPAL’ was screened in the auditorium to make the students understand about the life of Third Gender. The session started with the talk by Mr. Christy about the challenges faced by transgender. Mrs. Sarah continued with the interaction session followed by her life experience as a transgender. She also clarified the difference between ‘Trans women’ & ‘Trans men’.


One day Workshop on “Critical Outlook and Creative use of Media for Effective Teaching”

Resource Persons:
1) Prof. Alex Parimalam, VISCOM, Loyola College.
2) Fr. A. Irudayaraj, SJ, Professor, VISCOM, Loyola College.
3) Fr. Justin Prabhu, SJ, Professor, VISCOM, Loyola College.
Professor Alex Parimalam insisted on the importance of student teacher bonding and innovative method of teaching. The second session was taken by Rev. Fr. Justin Prabhu, SJ. He spoke about the mind games that should be given to students and make them always active. The third session was handled by Fr. A. Irudayaraj, SJ. He pictured various technologies that are useful to the students in listening and learning process.


Workshop on “Yoga and Well-being of Prospective Teachers”

Resource Person: Sr. Christina Mary, Asst. Professor, Stella Matutina College of Education.
Sr. Christina Mary briefed about the various Asanas and Mudras. The Students were educated on the importance of Yoga and how it helps in maintaining both physical and mental health for a healthy social life.


PTA Meeting – Distribution of Report sheet of I CIA

The PTA meeting was held in the Arrupe Auditorium, LCE at 9.30 a.m. which started with a prayer. Rev. Dr. S. Sebastian, SJ, Secretary, LCE, gave a brief overview of the proceedings in the first trimester of the academic year. Dr. L. Kulandai Theresal, Principal, welcomed all the parents and informed about the changes in the timing. The parents gave a very positive feedback regarding the activities provided by the college.


Children’s Day Celebration in Bala Vihar

Bala Vihar is a home for mentally Challenged persons which is a unit of Guild of Service (Central Govt.), Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Students and Staff of LCE were received by Ms. Rajeswari, Project Manager, Bala Vihar. Students of LCE entertained the students of Bala Vihar with a Cultural Programme. Students were served with snacks towards the end of the programme.


Children’s Day Celebration in MITHRA

On account of Children’s day students of LCE visited MITHRA Rehabilitation Centre, located at Anna Nagar. Students visited the classroom and came to know about their system of teaching and learning and the handmade craft works by the students of MITHRA like Candles, Jute bags, Paper bags and Wallets. Students of MITHRA gave a beautiful dance performance, performed mimicry, and sang villupattu. Students of LCE came to know about the challenges faced by the mentally retarded students.

Eco Club Organized Environmental Awareness Programme

Environmental awareness programme was conducted by Dr. M. Caroline Maria, Asst. Professor, LCE. She created awareness on protecting environment by planting more trees and insisted students to follow certain activities in their day-to-day basis like avoiding plastic, saving water, planting trees to enhance environment sustainability.


Workshop on Pencil Sketch Art

Resource Person: Bro. Thomas Alva Edison. Asst. Director, Loyola Hostel, M.Sc., Visual Communication, Loyola College.
Bro. Thomas Alva Edison taught the students on how to develop their Artistic skills of writing and Drawing pictures on the blackboard. Towards the end of the class all his master pieces were displayed and students were inspired by his artistic skills.


National Seminar on “Harnessing Challenges in Educational Research: Percepts and Prospects”.

The IQAC of Loyola College of Education organized a two day national seminar on the theme “Harnessing Challenges in Educational Research: Percepts and Prospects”. The seminar was aimed to address and explore different strategies to tackle and control the challenges in educational research. The seminar undertook the task of identifying 6 sub themes which included Innovative Research Approaches, Ethical Values in Research, Healthy Environment for sustainable development, Technology Enabled Teaching and Learning and Research in Inclusive Education.
The Keynote address was delivered by Dr. Madhan Mohan, Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru Universiry, New Delhi. Felicitation was done by Rev. Dr. Francis Xavier, SJ, Rector, Loyola College and Rev. Dr. S. Sebastian SJ, Secretary, LCE. The first input sessions was on ‘Innovative Research Approaches’ by Dr. Madhan Mohan. The second input session was on the theme ‘Ethical Values in Research’ by Dr. H. N. Viswanath, Faculty of Education, sarada Vilas Teachers College, Mysore. The third input session was on ‘Integrating Professional Ethics into Assessment Practices for Students’ by Dr. Satya Sundar Sethy, Assisstant Professor, IIT, Madras. The fourth session was handled by the resource person Dr. Sivasubramaniam, Former Vice-Chancellor, Bharathiar University on the theme ‘Original, Quality & Innovative Educational Research’.
National seminar came to an end with the Valedictory function which was graced by Dr. Melchias Gabriel, Deputy Principal, Loyola College, Chennai. All the participants appreciated the management for very good hospitality and amenities provided.

Eco Club – Sapling Plantation

As a part of Eco-club plantation programme, Cycas plant sapling was planted in LCE campus by the Secretary Rev. Dr. S. Sebastian, SJ. Father Secretary insisted that more saplings should be planted and protected for the future


Diwali celebration

The celebration started with a prayer song followed by welcome speech by Mrs.Barbara, Student Chairperson LCE. Ms. Justin Teena, highlighted the significance of Diwali through her speech which was followed by a skit based on the theme “Joint Family During Festivals”. The colourful cultural program also contained melodious songs and Dandia dance by the first year students. The program came to an end with the vote of thanks by Ms. Anusha.


State level seminar on Creative solutions on environmental problems

The state level seminar was organised by Entomology Research Institute, Loyola College. The seminar was divided into four sessions comprising three lectures and a field visit. In the first session, Fr. G. Victor Roch, SJ, The Dean LIBA, Loyola campus briefed on “Environmental Problem and their Impact on Fauna and Flora”.In the second session, Dr.M.GabrielPaulraj, Scientist, ERI, Loyola college briefed on “Global Warming and its Impact on our Common Home - Nature”. Finally Rev. Dr. S. Maria Packiyam, SJ, Directior, ERI, Loyola College lectured on “Creative Solution for Environmental Problems”. The seminar created awareness on environment to the first year students of LCE


Workshop on Emotional Intelligence

Resource Person: Ms.ShanthiRajan, University of Stirling at Ras Al Khaimah,UAE.
The resource person gave very good inputs on student engagement in classrooms. She made the session very productive by conducting psychometric tests and helped the audience to become aware of their personality. The entire session was about how to be empathetic towards students and become excellent teachers in future.


God Experience for Non- Christian students and staff

Resource Person: Rev. Fr. Irudaya Raj, SJ, Arul Kadal.
Prayer meeting is an essential part of the spiritual growth of all the students. This session provided the students with the opportunity to take time out and evaluate the faith aspects of their lives and to the new sense of the centrality of God in all they do.


Retreat for I year Catholic and Christian students and staff

Resource Person: Rev. Fr. Arockiadass, SJ, Arul Kadal.
The retreat program was designed to give students and staff opportunities to develop spirituality by recognizing God in the people and events in their lives. This helps students to bring their faith values to their daily lives. The variety of activities like presentations, music, films, liturgy, and confession were use to help them reflect on Christian values and teachings


Faculty Development Programme

Resource Person: Dr. ChindhaiJayaraman, President, Chennai Institute .
The resources person came up with his new naturalistic approach of teaching learning called tour based learning, with a motto ‘No test only tour’ . He also mentioned that the students should be taught 3R’s in schools – Respect, Responsibility and Relationship. This program enabled LCE staff to use a different approach in their day today classroom and create a meaningful learning thereby.


CIA – I for 1st year


Fresher’s Day Celebration

The event began with the invocation of the almighty through a prayer song. The theme of the event was “SINK MERGE SHINE”. Second year students entertained the first years by singing songs, conducting games, dance and sharing their experiences. There was also poetry recitation in Tamil by both first and second year girls. The event turned out to be an ice-breaking session for both the second years and the new members of the Loyola family


Alumni Meet Day

The Alumni Meet started with a song seeking the blessings of Almighty. Our Principal Dr. L. Kulandai Theresal, welcomed all the alumni who responded to the invitation from college. Dr. Beulah Jayarani, Asst. Professor of Pedagogy of Biological Science presented the report highlighting the various milestones reached in the past year. Alumni representing each batch were called for sharing session. In response, alumni shared their experiences as well as interesting moments of campus life with audience. Rev.Dr.S.Sebatian, S.J, Secretary said that alumni need to actively take part in the developmental programmes of the college. Alumni reunion came to an end with a short entertainment programme and vote of thanks by Mr. Premin, President of Alumni Association of LCE


Feast of Corpus Christi

Rev. Fr. Alangaram, the superior of Berchmans Illam Celebrated mass. After the mass, Blessed Sacrament was brought in a procession through the paths of different institutions in the campus.


Educational Tour for II year

150 students and 12 staff members went for the tour. The important spots visited in Mysore were Chamundi Hills, Chamundi Temple, Mysuru palace and Brindavan Garden. The next day students & staff visited Tipu Sultan Summer palace, the Mausoleum in Srirangapatna. Students visited the famous Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum in Bangalore. After visiting the Museum students and staff moved to the Cubbon Park. On 26th September students and staff boarded the train from Bengalore to Chennai.
The tour was educative, informative and enjoyable.


Rural Immersion Camp for I year

The student teachers were taken to Kilpennathur (AHAL), Tindivanam (JESIM) MITHRA accompanied by staff. The camp was conducted with a motive to make the student teachers involve and understand the rural realities, life style and community living.


Onam Celebration

The programme started with attapoova (flower decoration) followed by traditional Thiruvathira dance. Students emphasized the cultural heritage of Kerala through a short video. That was a visual treat to all. Finally our faculties played the famous traditional game of Kerala ‘Suntharikupottu’. The celebration was concluded with a valuable message delivered by our secretary Rev. Dr. S. Sebastian, S.J.

The Clubs aim at bringing out the various talents of our students. On the 9th of September 2019, the various clubs at our college were inaugurated.


Investiture Ceremony 2019-2020

Chief Guest: Rev. Dr. Maria Arulraja, Director, IDCR.
The newly elected student council members pledged to work earnestly and uphold the honour and glory of the institution while receiving their prestigious sash from the chief guest Rev. Fr. Maria Arulraj. The Chief Guest in his address appreciated the college for providing opportunities to the students to take part in activities like these. He asked them to use these opportunities and balance them well with academics to excel in both.


Teachers’ Day Celebration

The programme was hosted by the student council. It started with a prayer song sung by the students. The Chief guest Dr.Anthuvan, Dean-Research of LIBA, gave a peek into the life of Dr. Radhakrishnan through speech. As the speech concluded, cultural program began which included western dance, skit and song by the students. Students presented gifts as a token of love and appreciation to teaching and non-teaching staff members


Holy Mass

Rev. Dr. Sebastian, SJ, Secretary celebrated the mass. All catholic and Christian students and staff members participated in the mass

Student Council Election

Members of the student council were elected based on the one with the highest number of votes in the election and Ms. Barbara was elected as the Chairperson and Mr. Rufus Dayasagaran who got the second highest votes was elected as Vice Chairperson. Ms. Prabitha was elected as the Secretary and Mr. Milan Joel as the Joint Secretary. Ms. Poornima was elected as the Treasurer.
Ms. Jesureetta Sherin was selected as Cultural Secretary and Mr. Alwin as Cultural Joint Secretary. Ms. Keerthika as RRC Secretary & Mr. Jagadeesh as RRC Joint secretary. Ms. Anushiya as Secretary of Eco Club and Ms. Suchitra as Joint secretary of Eco Club. Ms. Sriranjani, Ms. Agalya and Ms. Thelma were selected as members of the discipline committee.


Orientation towards Leadership

Resource Person: Rev. Dr. Soosai Sebastian, Secretary, LCE.
Father conducted a brain storming session wherein he got the input from the students on what are the qualities that are essential in a leader and those qualities were displayed on screen and he used this to explain about the importance of the most significant leadership qualities that were given by the students.


Competition Organized by Youth Red Cross Society

Students from Loyola College of education participated in various competitions like Oratorical in Tamil & English, Essay Writing in Tamil & English, Painting, Quiz and Skit competition

73rd Independence Day Celebration

Chief Guest: Rev. Fr. Justin Prabhu, SJ, Administrator of Jesuit Community, Director of Media Relations, Loyola College.
The Chief Guest hoisted the national flag. Then followed the cultural programme, patriotic poem and songs were recited by the students. Some students also presented the group dance and mime. The Chief Guest delivered a short speech. He said that the freedom is very precious and it is very necessary to preserve it. Finally programme was concluded with vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.

PTA meeting – First year

The parent teacher meeting started with a prayer. Dr. Kulandai Theresal, Principal, explained the rules and regulations of the college focussing on absenteeism, dress code and punctuality. PTA meeting concluded with vote of thanks.


Ice breaking session for I year

Resource Person: Rev. Dr. Soosai Sebastian, SJ, Secretary, LCE.
The day culminated with an ice breaking session creatively organized by Fr.Secretary. It was full of life and helped in breaking the barriers to become familiar with each other.


Inauguration of the Academic Year 2019-20 for 1st Years.

Chief Guest: Rev. Dr. Francis Xavier, S.J, Rector, Loyola Campus.
The inauguration began with a prayer. The motto of the college, “Let your light shine” was the theme chosen for the prayer. After the prayer session, the new academic year commenced with the lighting of the lamp symbolising carrying the light of wisdom before the others by dispelling the darkness within us. The prestigious part of the inauguration was the talk given by Rev. Dr. Francis Xavier. He uplifted the spirit of everyone with his persuading speech on the greatest importance and the noblest task of a teacher in creating an impact in the life of every student. Fr. Secretary defined the background of the Jesuit institutions around the world. Dr. Kulandai Theresal, Principal, LCE introduced all the teaching and Non-teaching staff and briefed on ‘do’s and don’ts’ of the college to the students. Programme ended with vote of thanks and National Anthem.
