Resource Person: Mr. Sakthi Kumar, Actor cum Cine Production.
The programme began with a prayer song followed by TamizthaiVazthu. Welcome address was delivered by T.Diana Victoria, Pedagogy of Biological Science. The resource person spoke about media & its influence in bringing about gender roles as it tends to focus more on the ancient stereotypes that cover the boy and girl child roles in the society hence bringing about the inflexibility in the gender roles. The program came to end with the vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.

The resource person focused on the Covid -19 & its environmental problems especially on the CO2 emissions in 2020 compared to 2019, Positive & negative environment effects of Covid – 19, Cascade effect of Covid-19 on different components of ecosystem. He also spoke on the functions of the immune system, how herbal medicine might help battle against Covid-19. Indian medicinal plants that might help ease symptoms, Balanced diet, and WHO (2020) guidance on diet especially during the current pandemic situation.

The webinar began with the prayer song which was led by Ms. Deborah Sharon from the Pedagogy of Physical science followed by Tamil Thai Vaazhthu led by Ms.Pavithra from the pedagogy of English. The webinar witnessed an active participation from student-teachers and faculty members of various colleges. Nearly, 180 participants from various colleges had attended the webinar. The webinar was structured in a PPT with visual impact. The webinar started with an introduction to the meaning of achievement and feedback. The resource person explained the various reasons for achievement gaps and emphasized that feedback should be “goal referenced/self-referenced, tangible and transparent, actionable, specific and personalized, timely, ongoing and consistent”. The programme came to end with the vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.

The program began with a prayer song followed by Tamilthaivazhthu. Welcome address was delivered by Mr. Anbarasan, Pedagogy of Physical Science. Resource person started the session with Thirukkural–“–“தொட்டணைத்தூரும் மணற்கேணி மாந்தற்கு கற்றணைத்தூரும் அறிவு”. She stressed on the purpose of having activity to maintain attention of the virtual learners. She demonstrated on how to elicit the topic from the learners.
She conducted activities which led to extended learning. The resource person conducted activities to keep the brain of the students active. In simulation activity ‘Phet’ lab time was introduced where the learners do the experiment and record the result. The last & the final activity were about the “Exit Pass”. Rural camp committee of Loyola College of Education organized a three day virtual camp for student-teachers in Cisco Webex. Fr. Kennedy, SJ, Director and his team PALAVAI from Tindivanam served as a resource person for the first day and they shared their service as Jesuits among the Irular Community in Tindivanam. Fr. Packiaraj, SJ, Director and his team PARAN in Makkampalayam served as a resource person for the second day and they shared about various aspects like need, life style as well as the work that has been carried out to improve the status of the tribal people. Fr. Marianathan, SJ, Director and his team AHAL in Kilpennathur served as a resource person for the third day. His team shared about their day to day experiences among the Arunthathiar Community people, the hardships they face and the work that has been carried out by the Jesuit Community.
The three day virtual camp has been thought provoking and helpful for the students to understand about the marginalized people. It made them sensitive to the need of the others. The objectives of the virtual camp have been fulfilled in making the budding teachers to become responsible citizens.

Day 1: The program began with a prayer song followed by Tamiltaivazhthu. Welcome address was delivered by Dr.Ponmalini, Assistant Professor of Perspectives in Education and resource person introduction was done by Dr. L. KulandaiTheresal, Principal.
Rev.Dr.HilariaSoundari explained about Indian Social System with a power point presentation. She spoke about caste in Indian Society. She showed the pyramid of Indian caste hierarchy and explained how this caste hierarchy is the predominant cause behind several things like, low salary, social stigma, poverty etc.,
Resource person focused on the current scenario – how pandemic situation has affected the poor people. She also spoke about the policy & program for poverty reduction like self-employment program, National Social Assistant Program. She concluded the first day of the two days webinar with the explanation about societal system which includes fundamental system like social, political, economic systems. There was a question and answer session where the student teachers classified their doubts. The program came to an end with vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Catherene Nithya, Assistant Professor of Perspectives in Education.
Day 2: The second day program began with a prayer song. Welcome address was delivered by Dr. E. Karthikeyan, Assistant Professor of Pedagogy of English. The resource person explained about Indian Culture. She spoke about Scandinavian Culture and about Tamil Culture. She shared her personal experience regarding the influence of the culture.
The resource person moved on with hoe to develop different quotients like emotional, social, physical, intellectual and spiritual. She then travelled back to history giving past influence on culture. Types of ideologies were discussed focusing on socialist feminism was also added. Educational implications and the impact of Covid 19 on education were spoken of. The session came to an end with the quote, “be the change you want to see in the world” by Mahatma Gandhi.
Again the session was open to student teachers to clarity their doubts and give feedback. Rev. Dr.SoosaiSebastain, SJ, Secretary of Loyola College of Education shared a few words on social analysis. The program came to an end with a vote of thanks by Mr. K. Nandha, Assistant Professor, Pedagogy of English followed by National Anthem.

The program started with a prayer song followed by Tamilthaivazhthu. Welcome address was given by Ms. Elsi Rani, Pedagogy of Biological Science. The resource person started her presentation with a warm smile and a great quote addressing prospective students teachers and spoke about the new normal education, online learning, digital learning and classroom technology. She also explained the following online teaching tools along with demonstration. i. Google Drive, ii. Google Classroom, iii. Google Form, iv. To organize files, v. MS Edge, vi. MS Teams and vii. MS. Notebook.
There was question and answer session for 15 minutes in which all the doubts of the students were cleared and vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Aswini, Pedagogy of Biological Science. The programme came to an end with the National Anthem.

The resource person gave a lucid presentation regarding how to write an impressive resume, preparatory tips for an interview and some inputs on job skills. The inputs given by the resource person will enable the student teachers to face the interview with confidence and proper preparation by updating their knowledge and skills.

The program began with a prayer song followed by Tamilthaivazhthu. Welcome Address was given by Mr. S. Regis Gnanaraj, Assistant Professor of Perspectives in Education, LCE. The resource person spoke in detail about the need for mentoring and its benefit to the students. She gave an in-depth analysis of the functions of mentoring and spoke also about how to make mentoring more effective. She spoke with experiences in her life and explained how mentoring works to bring a positive change in an individual. She also explained how mentoring will be an effective tool in changing the lives of students. The students enjoyed the session and clarified their doubts with the resource person. The programme gave valuable inputs to the students. The program came to an end with vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Y. Elin Shibi, Assistant Professor of Pedagogy of Physical Science, followed by National Anthem.

The program started with a prayer song followed by Tamilthaivazhthu. S.Sriranchana, Pedagogy of Mathematics welcomed the gathering and the chief guest. The resource person elaborated on 3E’s as Educate, Enhance and Extended learning. She gave a broad classification of TLM’s as Audio Aids, Visual Aids & Audio-visual aids through a power point presentation. After the presentation, videos of students from various pedagogy were played on how to make Teaching Learning Materials innovatively relevant to the topic. Webinar on ‘Preparedness and Pro-active measures against COVID 19’was organized using the virtual platform Cisco Webex for the B.Ed. students of the batch 2019-21& 2020-22.
Dr. J. Mohammed Farooq was so clear and meaningful in creating the awareness on the pandemic. He answered all the COVID related questions asked by our B.Ed. students. It was an eye opener.

Dr. Emilda Josephine threw light on the changing facets of Education and the Blooming fields in Interdisciplinary studies, where she added Humanoid Robots may replace teacher in coming future. More than 250 participants participated in the webinar through Webex and YouTube. Faculties, students of Loyola College of Education, Chennai and Professors & students from various colleges also participated in the webinar.

Dr.A.Marcus, presented his views on the topic “Impact of Covid-19 on Economy & Use and Misuse of Commerce in the Present Scenario”.

i) SWOC: To understand the strength, weakness, opportunities and concerns during the pandemic period.
ii) PESTEL: To know the political, Economical, Societal, Technological, Ecilogical& Legal status of our Nation and the World.
iii) Use of commerce during pandemic.

A workshop on ‘Interview’ was conducted as three sesstions through the virtual platform Cisco Webex. The workshop was attended by B.Ed. second year students of the batch 2019-21.

The resource person gave a detailedpicture about introduction to the interview, types of interviews and how they are typically structured. She insisted on the development of following interview skills like communication skills, leadership skills, organising skills, problem solving skills and team work.

The resource person Dr. M. Caroline Maria, gave insights about the interview skills, checklist of do’s and don’ts of the interview. She mentioned about common interview questions that should be known before stepping into the institution like history, and management of the institution, vision mission of the institution, objectives of the institution and what is the uniqueness about the institution.
Session III:Communication Skills Time: 11.40 a.m.-12.30 p.m.
Resource Person: Dr.Irudhaya Mary, Assistant. Professor, Pedagogy of English, Stella Matutina College of Education, Ashok Nagar, Chennai
The resource person gave a detailed explanation about communication skills, importance of communication skills and ways to improve communication skills.

Programme on ‘Memory Techniques’ was organized using the virtual platform Cisco Webex for the B.Ed.students of the batch 2019-21&2020-22. The resource person explained about types of memories, different techniques with the activities. She spoke about the purpose of using memory techniques in academic sides. She gave the do's and don’ts of improving one’s memory power. She concluded the session by showing the models of memory techniques.

The resource person gave a clear picture of resume and the essential things one should check in a good resume. He also gave a clear distinction between resume and curriculum vitae, which helped students to be clear on the view of using a resume professionally. He also explained the headings that a good resume should possess like education, activities, interest, work experience, honours and awards, skills & abilities etc. He clarified all the doubts of the students. The program ended with vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.

International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women, who have played an extra ordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. The programme was conducted virtually using Cisco-webex online platform.

Valedictory Function The valedictory program began with prayer song and prayer. Ms.AnithaYazhini, Counsellor, Loyola College, the resource person gave an acceptance speech and thanked the staff of LCE for their active participation. The participants of the workshop were given certificates.

He uplifted the spirit of everyone with his persuading speech. Rev.Fr. Sebastian S, SJ, Secretary, LCE, defined the background of the Jesuit Institutions around the world. Dr.L.KulandaiTheresal, Principal, LCE, introduced all the teaching and non-teaching staff and briefed on commencement of online classes. Programme ended with vote of thanks and National Anthem.

The orientation program for first year students was organized in order to enable them to become aware of teaching profession and communication skills. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, orientation was arranged in online platform using Cisco Webex. Orientation was conducted on three sessions as two input sessions regarding Teaching &B.Ed course & Communication Skills. The third session was testing English Proficiency. English proficiency test was conducted through online using google form. Students were encouraged to give feedback & suggestions regarding the session.
The programme was conducted virtually using Cisco-webex online platform. Students were given participant e-certificates and faculty members were given e-certificates for serving as resource person.

A guest lecture cum interaction was organized to provide the students with an opportunity to get knowledge about “Aids for AIDS – AIDS Awareness” and also doubts about general health cum covid-19 were clarified.

A guest lecture was organized to provide the students with an opportunity to get knowledge about “Give Blood & Give Life – Blood & Organ Donation”. The resource person clarified all the doubts on general health cum blood related issues.

The resource person made the students to get the awareness about eye-donation. She said that blood donation during life time and eye-donation posthumously is the noblest contribution towards the welfare of humanity. She appealed to the students to come forward and take a pledge to donate eyes.

Loyola College of Education celebrated the ‘Youth Awakening Day’ in remembrance of our former President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. The celebration started with prayer song followed by welcome speech. Ms. R. Sridevi, Assistant Professor of Pedagogy of Mathematics, LCE shared the life history, journey and achievement of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. The programme ended with a vote of thanks.

We celebrated our Teachers’ Day on September 5th 2020. The celebration started around 4 p.m. The celebration started with a prayer, followed by a welcome speech. Every member of the college was welcomed to the celebration on behalf of the present second year students. Many programmes such as a welcome song in three languages, a word of appreciation by few students to every staff member individually, followed by a memory down the lane video played for our dear teaching, non-teaching staff, Fr. Secretary and Principal. The programme ended with vote of thanks.
